Sorry:
I worked for President Ronald Reagan, and I abhor the fact that Congressman Paul’s campaign would even refer to him, much less compare Mr. Paul to him! President Reagan was no isolationist or defeatist, no matter how you spin it. Shame on all of you!
Define isolationist. Define defeatist. And there’s absolutely no shame in supporting a candidate on fire for liberty.
That’s interesting. My ex-boss was on President Reagan’s transition team, and was appointed (with Senate approval) by President Reagan, and supports Ron Paul’s candidacy. Small world, isn’t it.
I guess if being a federal employee during the Reagan administration means I worked for President Reagan, then you could say I worked for President Reagan and support Ron Paul.
I agree that Reagan did not advocate the same foreign policy as Paul. At the same, unlike the current president, was more likely to recognize the limits of American power. Reagan learned from his mistakes, however. For example, instead of plunging into a quagmire in Beiruit (which would still be going on today), he got our troops the hell out. He was a very wise man in recognizing the folly of “remaking” the Middle East.
Neither is Ron Paul. By the way, how many countries did Reagan invade? The only one I count is Grenada, to rescue some trapped medical students. And we were there about a week. So Reagan, in your book, was an "isolationist," I guess, because he didn't needlessly invade other countries. He won the cold war without invading Russia - just like we were beating Saddam with sanctions and had no need to launch a distrastrous invasion.
