You can say what you want, but you’re wrong. He hasn’t, to my knowledge, flip flopped on the two issues you mention. I don’t agree with him, but he’s consistent on immigration. As for CFR, he doesn’t deny his original vote. He reasonably claims the law had unintended consequences, and he no longer supports it. If you disagree, please back up your “flip-flopping” statement with some proof.

Fred Thompson on Citizenship "Deal" for Illegal Immigrants - "You're either going to drive 12 million people underground permanently, which is not a good solution. You're going to get them all together and get them out of the country, which is not going to happen. Or you're going to have to, in some way, work out a deal where they can have some aspirations of citizenship..."
FDT differs from his closest ally John McCain how again?

Ok, I take your word on that. I thought he was against amnesty, but apparently, he is supporting it ("aspirations of citizenship" for illegals can be interpreted only in one way).

I don't buy that. You are either for free speech, or against it. Alternative explanations are he is A) flip-flopping, B) dumb (did not understand what he was voting for).
As I said, I will vote for any republican candidate in general elections, even McCain (although he is the only one I truly despise). It is not a good sign that Fred avoids voters in early primary states. His performance in major events has been lackluster (even in the major event hosted by the congressional republicans so I think this is a wise strategy for him).

He reasonably claims the law had unintended consequencesSince the obvious downsides of M-F were easily foreseeable, this excuse reflects a serious lack of judgment and insight on Thompson's part. Thanks for pointing it out.
