"Don't cause any trouble in your own lands, practice you religion as long as we don't have a problem with it, pay whatever taxes we assess you and we won't execute you or torture you."
Or until we feel like it.
I am with Sassy on her boycott of everything made in China. We are now even checking clothing. I refuse to support a country who murders & treats it people as they do. Nor will I poison my family & animals with their garbage.
That is exactly right and the Chinese quite often "feel like it." There is no lack of credible evidence and witnesses to attest to it.
The PRC can require their Buddhists to get permission to reincarnate but they'll find that actions have consequences whether they like it or not.
A bit reaching. The Jews were systematically rounded up and sent to concentration camps en mass. And most were eventually gased. Hardly a comparison where Tibetians are free to move about in China.
Sadly that is very true...They will just kill everyone & dump the bodies. It is a sin what China has done & is still doing. Thats another good reason to boycott & get everyone to boycott them as much as possible.
No, not like that at all. The Romans governed over Israel as an empire. The Jews did not enjoy the same rights and privilege as the Romans. There was a distinction between the privilege given to a Roman citizen versus a conquered citizen. In China, the general population of Tibetans are actually given preferential treatment. It annoys the average Chinese, but such is the life of their version of affirmative action.
Tibetians can even join the party and participate in governmnet.
Tell me where I am wrong.
Odd that we or the leftist media care about how the PRC feels about the Lama. After all, Bush can honor him but not free Compean et al who was also a hero down on the border! I just wish the Prez and our Lefty Congress would poke their thumbs into our enemies’ eyes more often than the best interests of the American public.

Tibetan women under Chinese occupation
You keep repeating the same tired lie but you have no corroboration for it. I can continue to link to evidence of inequality, abuse, murder, torture and intentional flooding of the population in Tibet with ethnic Chinese if you like. You can't.
You still haven't come up with one similarity between the Dalai Lama and Mandela. Can't you back up anything you say?
That is exactly the same. The only difference is that the Romans didn't deny it. They had more honor than the PRC.
Well, tell me what it is specifically that you disagree with. Is it the fact that Tibetians are allowed to travel freely? Is it the fact that they can participate in government? Is it that Mandarin is taught to other non-Mandarin speaking Chinse?

Where is your corroboration?

Just as the average German citizen once believed that the Sudetenland, Poland, the Ukraine, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, and France were part of the Fatherland. Just as the average Russian once believed that Latvia, Lithuaina, Estonia, Georgia, Belarus, and the Ukraine were part of Russia. A better question is what do the peoples of Tibet and Taiwan believe.
I have no doubt that the "Invisible Hand" will act upon the old communist bastards and the Chinese people will one day take their rightful place among the free peoples of the world. The question is how much damage they will inflict on the world before it happens.
Do you seriously think that the ability to travel freely (with the exception of course being the forbidden zones that have too much unrest for outsiders or even you to see) is an adequate substitute for human rights?
I suspect this will be like trying to explain sunset to someone who is color blind, but do you even have an clue as to what human rights are and where they come from? Have you ever studied the concept of natural law or read the US Bill of Rights. Until you do your homework you should remain quiet while the grown ups are talking.
You cannot make categorical comments like that and maintain any credibility. There were many Jewish citizens of Rome, both in Palestine and throughout the empire. As citizens they were Romans regardless of where in the Empire they lived. In the Roman Empire, rights were not universal. They varied legislatively and by socioeconomic class.
The grimly humorous thing is that the Roman Empire was positively humane and merciful compared to what passes for justice under Mao or the PRC.
