Kevmo, you could not be more wrong about Latter-day Saint beliefs regarding the divinity of Jesus Christ. The title page of the Book Mormon expressly states that its purpose is “to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself to all nations.” If Mitt were to stand in a Mormon meeting and state that he believes that “Jesus Christ was God Himself”, he would merely be stating a central point of Mormon doctrine and he would receive a hearty amen.

So, how do we resolve this?

I have posted it before on Romney threads and it did not get taken up. I see a lot of mormonism threads degrading into useless discussions. I’m not interested in such discussions.

Do you see this as the central tenet to all of Christendom? I do. When I have this discussion with Jehovah’s Witnesses, they say Jesus was A God. Wrong. When I have this discussion with mormons, they say that we can become gods. Unbiblical. They say all kinds of weird stuff, and there is no archaeological evidence to support the book of mormon. If you print out this exchange and show it to your elders at your church, how confident are you that you would not be excommunicated?

Mitt does not have my support for several reasons, one of which is that he is involved in a cult.

Here is the church I go to, Ray Stedman’s old church, and a search for the word “mormon” would be the place to start.
