I searched around a found a good property tax by state link which excludes property taxes except by private homeowners (excludes businesses, etc. which skew the result). New Jersey is not only #1 but by a wide margin. Residents pay 6.75% of their gross income on property taxes, which is almost double where I live in Washington (ranked 11th at 3.55%). Ouch.
Property taxes: Where does your state rank?

When it comes to personal income and income tax, Michigan jumped from #16 up to #9. Our governatrix and the liberals (with a couple of RINOs) just passed a big tax increase.
The recall petitions are being written.
