>>>The GOP eventually gets shut out of power for the next decade or more while the Dems finally get something that looks like a one-party state, leaving them free to do pretty much whatever they want.>>>>

Well, then doesn’t this really distill to the stupidity of the avg American
voter? HL Mencken said that no one ever went broke underestimating the
intelligence of the American public. Its as true today as it was 110yrs ago.
Maybe moreso.

OTOH, isn’t this why gridlock was invented?

“Well, then doesn’t this really distill to the stupidity of the avg American voter? “

I look at it this way: the GOP mistakes the stupidity of the Democrats as their own intellect.

The GOP utterly fails to grasp the possibility that they are just as stupid as the Democrats.

What’s an American voter to do when they’ve got to vote for one of two stupid parties? They are bound to look stupid....

“OTOH, isn’t this why gridlock was invented?”

There is genius in this concept, thankfully!

If you are locked in a dark and empty room, and for your entire life you are told there is one story, and that it is both bad form and illegal to consider any other versions of the facts, does that automatically make you stupid, or a victim of brain washing?

Personally, I would have been stupid to take the screaming left at it's word, but I was taught through circumstances to think for myself, and, as a survivor, to reject the entire concept of being a victim.

But then, I rejected the entire business plan that victimization and the comfort of stupidity offered, straight off.

Slapping people in the face used to be en vogue, and should be brought back as a pillar of civic involvement - a good slap, well timed and with purpose, could be as inspiring as a brisk walk or a martini.
