I’m of the opinion that a country can only take limited amounts of cultural disparity. At some point, those cultures’ core values will collide and there is no compromising core values in most. Opposing groups vie for government attention, money and control. Conservatism and Liberalism are redefined to reflect cultural positions rather than views on the role of government. Everyone begins looking to the “neutral party”, the government, to mediate every little cultural dispute, real OR imagined.
First it leads to political upheaval, self-segregation, political turmoil and then violence. I believe we are entering the “self segregation” phase or at least about to.
