I guess some “Values Voters” are not as concerned with open borders and illegal immigration as the rest of us if they find Huckabee, who is weak on immigration, acceptable. Personally, I think it is extremely hard for us to be able to strenghten our families, our schools and our country if we cannot control our borders.

I agree with you. It’s my impression that Huck is a big-government guy, too, which is unappealing to me.

I’m starting to have doubts that the Reagan coalition is going to be able to unite around anyone this election. Collectively, these candidates are all over the map on almost every important GOP issue.

Couldn’t agree more. Additionally Huckabee is another nice guy who can’t win in the general. Michael Medved, has been pushing Huckabee, in order to split the conservative vote to insure a Guiliani victory.

I'm guessing that a large number of so-called "values voters" really want the government to be our collective nanny, so they support the nanny candidate.
