Yes, the winds are still with us but do not seem to be as aggressive today. Started out bad this morning, but began to slack off somewhat around mid-morning. We were ready to evacuate last night--all packed up, doberman's crate in the back of the SUV, but finally decided to hang in there since the evacuation instructions were "voluntary". We've lived here quite awhile, and have fought off a number of fires.
By the way, our particular fire ("Santiago Fire") has been labled an arson fire having three separate origination points. It is now a criminal investigation. I would pay good money to get my hands on the perp(s) for about 15 minutes, enough time to introduce him/them to my doberman.

I don’t see why we don’t have the death penalty for arson, especially this kind. It’s no different in effect from terrorism.

Eek, that is the first confirmation of arson that I’ve seen, but I am just getting caught up on the situation having been out on business for 5+ hours...
Santiago Fire = arson fire = bad news...:(
I hope you’re doing alright since you last wrote.
