Pics of Super Scooper dipping in Big Bear Lake today. I heard Big Mike from Big Bear MWD on the scanner closing the lake so they could their scoops

Moderate smoke and ash here in Redlands. Yesterday the smoke was real heavy driving to work to Pomona from the Slide Fire.

Listening to scanner it sounds like the fire around Running Springs is still causing problems. The Super Scooper may be back tomorrow to lend a hand.

a post from socalfire....(not mine) I think it clears up this Super Scooper question....they are different onces from Minn.

I posted the following on Tanker Locations Yahoo Group, but I think
it may be of interest to this group as well —

The following air tankers are overnighting at Fox Field tonight,
Friday, 10/26/07:

** 06, 07, 09, 10, 11, 12, 43, 44, 45, 48, 55 were at the USFS Pad
** Super Scoopers 264 (N264V or 264AV) and 266 (it may be 268? It
was N266NR or N268NR from MN DNR-Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources?) were by the Tower
** 00 and 27 from Aero Union were also by the tower.

I think these smaller aircraft were support/lead aircraft, and were
among many that were parked at the USFS Pad: N23W, N14CP, N717PP.

There were 2 more aircraft incoming on left base for Rwy 24, but it
was too dark to determine whether they were tankers or lead
aircraft...plus I was driving...

As you can see from my videos at http://www.youtube.com/changhomes
that it was getting dark, so I had a hard time making out some of
the Super Scoopers’ N-numbers. I also hadn’t had the time to check
records at Landings.com. Maybe someone else can look it up and
correct me on a future post.

These Scoopers were different from those I saw scooping off Lake
Palmdale and over Santa Clarita Fires earlier this week. Bad video
also on YouTube.

Couple of weeks ago, I only saw Tanker 55 at Fox. I thought the
fires today are too far away from the field for it to be used, but I
was wrong. I saw some earlier posts that some of these were out at
San Bern’s Air Base this afternoon too.

I want to extend thanks for the great posts I’ve been seeing for the
past years, and finally I had something noteworthy to share (so I’m
no longer a lurker)...I’ll try to give updates of “Overnights at
Fox” as I can during this season…
