As has been pointed out numerous times on these threads, the crime rate in NYC had already started to fall under Mayor Dinkins. And wouldn’t you give then police commissioner Bill Bratton most of the credit for the turnaround? Rudy never even mentions him, which isn’t surprising considering that Rudy is a power-hungry, selfish, egotistical swine who would rather die than give any person other than himself credit for something good.
Even Dinkins couldn't sustain the pace of a murder every 4.5 hours, every day, for a whole year...a pace that was reached "on his watch".
If folks wanna bash Rudy for his stances on immigration, the 2nd amendment, etc., please go right ahead. But you're going to look foolish attacking what he accomplished in NYC.

While that might be true, it didn’t force the hookers to leave Times Square, didn’t stop drunks from pissing in doorways or worse, etc etc etc.
