In Florida for the Republican debate we caught up with Congressman Duncan Hunter and chatted about conservative support and why he thinks the party won't nominate someone who isn't pro-life.
Rep. Duncan Hunter: Well I let all the other candidates talk about their credentials and their backgrounds and their plans for the country. But I have made the point that Ive been consistently pro-life. I believe thats a very important part of the Republican Party, a cornerstone of our party, and a strong part of my belief. And that I strongly support the traditional marriage.
And as a member of the Armed Services Committee, until this year the chairman of that committee, Ive worked hard to make sure that we dont have abortions in military hospitals. That we do not allow open homosexuals to serve in the armed forces. That we dont inhibit our chaplains from praying according to their own conscious...So Ive had fairly strong positions with respect to social issues the last 26 years and I havent changed those positions.
CBS News: Ive talked to a lot of Florida voters here and theyve said immigration is a huge issue for them. And its obviously a central issue for you. Can you explain to me why, then, when I ask these voters who theyre going to vote for, theyre not saying your name, even though you probably consider yourself the most qualified on the issue?
Hunter: Well most of them I think that know what I do weve got, in the straw polls where were able to get our messages out, like Texas, like Arizona, like South Carolina, we do very well. The problem is youve got hundreds of millions of people in this country and youve got to get your name out to them.

And Hunter is correct.
If it’s Rudy (which I doubt), I’ll vote 3rd party.
Look here, religious conservatives. You have your perfect candidate, with a 26-year history in Congress. NO FLIP FLOPS!

Go Hunter!
So do WOT conservatives, so do border security and immigration conservatives, as do strong defense conservatives, as do Reagan conservatives and Reagan Democrats.
What we had last night, at the debate, and for the most part, the entire campaign, is the others telling us what great managers they are when what we need is a leader. Last night, we waited till the debate was half over to even hear the best and most consistent conservative speak.
The reasons for Hunter not getting more coverage or "catching on" are fairly obvious if one has their eyes open. I virulently reject this notion that he is "boring" or "has no oratory skills, and let's be honest, these are just lies we tell ourselves to somehow rationalize being star-struck, media-obsessed supporters of flip-floppers and recent converts to our core beliefs.
The truth is, Hunter is a patriot and he fought for America in Vietnam and he is still fighting for them. The truth is, the reasons Hunter doesn't get coverage aren't due to any lack of charisma or poor speaking skills. No, the real reasons are his lack of sycophant skills and his love for America.
Quite simply, he isn't a money whore for Wall St. and he puts Americans above the selfish self-interests of the The Money Cult. Anyone who is paying attention can see; The Money Cult doesn't like anyone who will really secure our borders and end their pool of slave labor. They will reject anyone who speaks out on the ChiComs and their cheating on trade and building their "Arsenal of Oppression" with American dollars they got from dishonest and sinister trade practices.
The message they want to get out is, "All is well, go back to sleep" and "use those credit cards!". For all those who say Hunter is a protectionist and isolationist and extol the virtues and advocate this supposed "free trade" we have, a modest proposal: Let's trade! You get taxed twice, I get a rebate and remember my money is devalued by 40 percent. I will sell you $1 million of my product, but I agree to purchase, $700,000 of your product each year. So, step up and enjoy the benefits of the "free trade" and just keep telling yourself your $300,000 a year loss is good for your economy.
Hmm...
sounds like:
in this world, but not of the world...
Oh, and...
They will hate you because of Me.
Bump for Duncan Hunter!!!!
Don’t be surprised if what you have written comes back to you as an e-mail one of these days. It’s too good not to pass on.
Big bump for Hunter.
