I recognize idiocy when I see it. Usually with the name Hostage attached.

I didn’t acknowledge your point. I pointed out that you don’t have one.

Whatever you may have learned during your sophomore year, it is quite possible to know things. One of the things we can know, from direct experience of another’s words, is the acuity of their mind and the clarity of their thought. If you have any argument to make about how Fred and W are similar, make it. If you don’t go do something useful like brushing up on your epistemology. Constantly repeating that it is impossible to know either very public man’s mind is just juvenile nonsense.

If you believed what you are saying, you could not consistently be maintaining that there is any similarity between Fred and W. If the assertion that they are different is mere conjecture so is any assertion that they are similar.

In fact, of course, neither assertion is grounded in conjecture. They are both grounded in observation. It’s just that one is right and the other is embarrassingly wrong.

I did not invent TV. Nixon learned the hard lessons of being less than photogenic in a TV age. The years have worn on Thompson, it is not his fault, but he is not camera ready and it will not fly in the TV age. It is not kindergarten to point out the obvious.

I’ve already tried those arguments and it doesn’t work with these morons. The attempt to identify Thompson with Reagan is the most insulting. Reagan was the highly successful, two-term governor of the largest state. He demonstrated that he had executive ability. He spent years honing and delivering his message about smaller government, strong defenses, low taxes, etc. He quit movie-making to pursue his passion in government and politics. He wanted to be president and entered the arena on his own; he didn’t have to be dragged, pushed, or coerced. He was a great communicator because he had something to say, not because he was an actor. Reagan never was a paid lobbyist for the scummy individuals and dubious causes that Thompson has represented.

Thompson has none of Reagan’s qualities. He had a mediocre Senate record and quit before his term was over and after 9-11. When American troops were heading for Iraq, Thompson was heading for the exit presumably to make more money acting and lobbying. His Senate career was undistinguished and is only significant in that he was a major backer of McCain-Feingold—legislation that conservative constitutional scholars have described as one of the greatest threats to free speech as it relates to political discourse.

It mystifies me that these people are such rabid Thompson supporters. I think he’s the weakest candidate in the group. Add to that, he is seriously ill with a disease that will require periodic intravenous chemotherapy treatments. (Even his doctor admits this.) Read about Rituximab at its official website. Read about the side effects. Read about how it destroys B-cells, good and bad, and the good ones are a major component of an individual’s immune system. Support of Thompson is absolute madness. If he is the nominee, it will only guarantee a Hillary victory.

Now I know why Republicans are referred to as the “stupid party.” DeadHead Thompson supporters are exhibit one.

You’re right on. Especially I heard Dick Morris say that he is an advisor for the Huckabee campaign.

Another Dick Morris candidate is the last thing we need.

“I have tried those arguments and it doesn’t work with these morons”.

Invective is not argument, preppie. Didn’t they teach you that at Radcliffe ..er..Harvard? Your boy Mitt, if he is nominated, will likely be clobbered in the South. Hillary is beating him in Tennessee in a recent Rasmussen poll and she is dead even with him in Alabama, the reddest state in the Union, in a Survey USA poll. Just which states do you figure this electoral powerhouse to carry? Massachusetts, New York? How many flip flops can he do in one election cycle?

And with cheerleaders like you, he is not a cinch anywhere. Sheesh.

"Whatever you may have learned during your sophomore year," "juvenile nonsense," "go do something useful like brushing up on your epistemology..,"

this is discourteous, something which I don't believe I've been to you. Obviously this is upsetting to you. The reason that I don't argue your "point" is because it's like arguing about someone's religious beliefs. Your argument can be summed up as: "I have through great powers of observation been able to discern the mental acuity and natural investigative nature of George W. Bush from childhood on, have likewise evaluated through the TV, Fred Thompson's mental abilities, have judged one to be a dunce and the other as possessing considerable ability. Because I don't believe they sound alike, and (strangely) I don't believe the American people will make a comparison between one southern Republican presidential candidate and the current hugely unpopular southern Republican president, and because I think these things, they are in fact so, and any other opinion is embarrassingly wrong." My original issue with your post was that you espoused a conclusion, and backed it up with nothing but false facts and conjecture...which is the point I made. Since then you've done nothing but reiterate the validity of my point. I don't know what else to tell you...thanks again.

There is really no point in arguing with someone who wouldn’t recognize a valid argument if it bit him in the butt and has no clue how to formulate one. Your argument can’t be summed up because it isn’t there. Repeating the word conjecture, which you apparently don’t understand, is not an argument.

The only point I can distill from your last post is that both men you want to compare are southern, which is idiotic. It’s like comparing Joe McCarthy and Tommy Thompson because both were Republican elected officials from Wisconsin.

Nobody, least of all you, is going seriously to argue that Fred Thompson is not smarter, much more thoughtful and much more articulate than the incumbent President. Trying to short circuit the argument by claiming that we can’t know that is just stupid. Complaining about discourtesy when someone notices that you are spewing nonsense is just childish.

I’ve spent enough time now contributing to your education. Try thinking in future before you start hammering on a keyboard.

Well I dont know if my views are representative of anyone else ,but I am Pissed and outraged and ready to explode !!!
I want a candidate who can communicate and is going to fight for AMERICA,not for fifteen thousand GROUPS including ILLEGAL ones !!!!!
Why dont they ask Hillary to quote The founding father who said it is the job of THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT to take things from us for the common good ? Maybe she can Quote the Jefferson or Adams Or Washington who I am sure shared her views on pitting one group against the other.
I am sick of these phonies like Giuliani whos only policy he has is that he thinks he can beat Hillary. She has more dirt on him that she will dump when the time is right than Monica had on her dress.

You are right, but that was before TV’s impact on campaigns.
