The Fredheads will not be moved by reality, so I think you’re wasting your breath.
If you point out objectively that Fred is not a good speaker, has no real agenda, and looks like half a corpse, you’ll only be accused of “fearing” him.
I’ve already tried those arguments and it doesn’t work with these morons. The attempt to identify Thompson with Reagan is the most insulting. Reagan was the highly successful, two-term governor of the largest state. He demonstrated that he had executive ability. He spent years honing and delivering his message about smaller government, strong defenses, low taxes, etc. He quit movie-making to pursue his passion in government and politics. He wanted to be president and entered the arena on his own; he didn’t have to be dragged, pushed, or coerced. He was a great communicator because he had something to say, not because he was an actor. Reagan never was a paid lobbyist for the scummy individuals and dubious causes that Thompson has represented.
Thompson has none of Reagan’s qualities. He had a mediocre Senate record and quit before his term was over and after 9-11. When American troops were heading for Iraq, Thompson was heading for the exit presumably to make more money acting and lobbying. His Senate career was undistinguished and is only significant in that he was a major backer of McCain-Feingold—legislation that conservative constitutional scholars have described as one of the greatest threats to free speech as it relates to political discourse.
It mystifies me that these people are such rabid Thompson supporters. I think he’s the weakest candidate in the group. Add to that, he is seriously ill with a disease that will require periodic intravenous chemotherapy treatments. (Even his doctor admits this.) Read about Rituximab at its official website. Read about the side effects. Read about how it destroys B-cells, good and bad, and the good ones are a major component of an individual’s immune system. Support of Thompson is absolute madness. If he is the nominee, it will only guarantee a Hillary victory.
Now I know why Republicans are referred to as the “stupid party.” DeadHead Thompson supporters are exhibit one.
