Bump! Already called my Senators. Of course, the call to Hatch was probably useless on this issue.

Both of mine are worthless but I call anyway. Make their staff answer the phone.

Of course, the call to Hatch was probably useless on this issue.

Huh?

"“Congress granted amnesty in 1986, and that just encouraged more illegal immigration,” Hatch said. “I opposed amnesty 20 years ago, and I’m even more determined not to allow Congress to repeat the same mistake this time around. We shouldn’t give an edge to those who have broken the law when there are thousands of people in other countries who are playing by the rules and have been waiting in line to come into the United States.”

-- Orrin Hatch

OTOH, a call to Bennett would be useless.

Hatch has to be called again and again. He says he's against amnesty, but this is his baby.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, initiated the idea for the bill five years ago, and Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., has renewed efforts to get it through Congress.

...

Hatch insisted that the bill "is not amnesty," because for those who meet the initial criteria, it would still take years to reach full citizenship.
