Yangon, Burma (AHN) - A massive rally worldwide will be launched with Burma's detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi as its centerpiece and other political prisoners in the country.

Rallies will be held in 12 cities worldwide to protest the Burma's military junta's house 12-year detention of Suu Kyi.

Demonstrations will be set up in Chinese embassies, following reports that Beijing would play a key role in freeing Suu Kyi, BBC News reported.

The pro-Suu Kyi rallies will be conducted in Washington, New York, London, Paris, Bangkok, Sydney, Brasilia, Cape Town, Berlin, Dublin, Toronto, and Vienna.

The rallies for Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, would have Suu Kyi mask-wearing demonstrators. The rallyists are also expected to wear white cloth similar to those worn by political prisons.

Australia had imposed financial sanctions that would affect 418 Burmese government authorities.

A few weeks ago, tens of thousand of rallyists trooped to the main streets of Yangon to stage a pro-military junta rally. The demonstration was held a few days after the bloody crackdown that killed 10 non-violent anti-government protesters.
