Fictional characters can’t be gay, straight, or inbetween unless it’s written into the book. Frankly I never gave a thought to anybody’s sexuality while reading the books.

How does a character in a book being gay give “values” readers the bird?
Apparently (goodness knows I don’t know firsthand) there are internet discussion groups wherein this character’s sexuality has been questioned.
If she was gonna flip some group off, it would be those folks who would dismiss her writing as devil worshipping occultism.
