They need to fix what we have now or else we’ll eventually have hillary care.

Expand competition and choice!

If you mean The government must fix it, The government doesn’t solve problems, they cause them.

A visit to the doctor’s office used to involve only 3 people, one receptionist/telephone operator, one nurse and one doctor.
Now there is still one nurse, one doctor but 20 paper shufflers/receptionist/telephone operators.

“If you mean The government must fix it, The government doesn’t solve problems, they cause them.”

State mandates have gotten us in this problem, and federal involvement wouldn’t necessarily be wrong....really depends on how they do it.

Currently you can’t buy insurance across state-lines, which inhibits free-market competition. This is mostly due to internal regulation within the states and lobbying by insurance companies, etc.

Their needs to be a single regulator system on the federal level that resolves issues over policies or a laws that allows for immediate resolution of policies bought in other states. That along with an opt out law, where people can chose to be charged less for less regulator mandates...and you solve most of the problem. Costs would go down, and hillary care would be abated.

Now I say the ‘opt out’ and ‘the single regulator system’, because these are reasonable expectations within the states and federal government. It would allow much more competition.

Saying the government shouldn’t get involved as a blanket statement isn’t appropriate in this situation. The Federal government needs to get in there and elminate state barriers to interstate commerce....which is absolutely essential. They need to do it in a mindful manner, but it needs to be done.
