As a teen I was listening to a local tv show "Ask the [station] Manager" explain that "while the roller derby gets high numbers, the people that watch it don't have any money, so we can't attract advertisers to cover the program.
Golf, on the other had doesn't get high numbers, but those viewers have a lot of money that attracts advertisers."
My guess with the cablen news channels is that if they started doing hard news, they'd have to dump half of their opinion programs, and the remaining half would half, er, have to start acting logical, and ninety percent of them couldn't hack telling the truth.
So they would firing 95% of the on-air personalities, and the Dims would have a fit at losing their fifth column in the fourth estate, and the networks would get beat up legislatively.
Ergo, the non-news puff pieces that avoid holding office holders accountable.
The news business is no longer in the news business. It is in the prognostication and commentary business. It no longer reports what has happened in the country and in the world; it now tells listeners/viewers what events mean, what will happen next and why it is all George Bush’s fault!
I seriously doubt the stated reason is the actual reason.
Katherine needs to lay off the deep-fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches for awhile.
Yes, and she was such a High Road reporter beforehand. /s
Maria is positively gaunt and the daughter - wasn’t it ARnold who promoted exercise for school children?
