I agree. Now think how great it would be for our next President to have both communications skills & depth? Thats really all I am trying to say. I agree with many of President Bushes philosophies, such as his Supreme Court Justice selections. I’m not sure we have been able to communicate the importance of the position, even to some conservatives.
I read 10 articles on the GOP race this morning, all from the liberal MSM. EVERY piece on Thompson and Romney was a hit piece, and every piece on Huckabee and Paul were full of ebullient praise. See a pattern here?
Not hardly, just acknowledging his ability to grasp enough of a topic to discuss it with the average American.
There is no name more Preisdential than Fred Dalton Thompson. On the other hand Huckabee......?.....sounds like a great brand name for jams and jellies.
Rudy...ahem...too tooty fruity
Mitt....equipment for baseball players
John....lets not go there..
Duncan....wasn't there a famous yo-yo with that name?
Tom.....cats and turkeys
And before I get flamed....relax its all in jest..
Well, I have no desire to defend Billy. But the little I’ve seen of Huckabee, impresses me that he actually has a core value.
...and to add to that list, can you imagine anything more American pie than Mark Twain & Huckleberry Finn (Huckabee Finn).
Your post made me recall the reporter who fired questions at Bush about the names of the leaders of various countries. The question was pointless; a President could have the names of every world leader memorized and still have an utterly worthless foreign policy. But the reporter got attention and got to nail Bush, which I suspect was the real point all along.
My guess is that Thompson is taking time out from campaigning in these early days to “brush up” on all the issues that might be the targets of questions as time goes on. There is a lot of studying to do to catch up with current events and the “names” of those involved, especially if you have spent the past few years acting. Preparing for a TV show takes pretty much all of one’s free time. I imagine that Fred is going to “school” about now.
The "Expert's and Pundit's" perfect candidate.
And to think, all Fred`s been doing is promoting a conservative agenda. That seems to register a whole lotta fear on the part of America’s political punditry.
With all the howling, I figure Fred is doing plenty good.
Why? Is there a rule if you don’t keep up with the team, they’ll take back your degree. I don’t like sports and haven’t known how my school’s team is doing fo 50 years and could care less.
Correct and to be honest this is what I was looking for because I am rather tired of PRAGMATISM.
I think they mistake, calm for lazy.
Guess I won’t be his VP nominee (see Dan Quayle). Besides, two “Freds” would just confuse everyone...
"Clinton could handle just Lie about any topic thrown his way..."
Edited to comply with truth in advertising rules.
**Is anyone else sick of the term lazy as it is attributed to Fred, a southerner? I thought we were beyond such stereotypes.**
Do these “Great Intellects” (/sarc) forgotten about the story of the race between “The Tortoise and the Hare”??
What is FT supposed to do ... Jump out of the TV like one of those USED CAR DEALER Commercials.
I find his methods refreshing... I already have the “GO AWAY” mentality of ALL DEMS and HALF the GOP candidates!
That's it. Them's the rules. It starts in less than 70 days.
Just now I had a paranoid thought (be forewarned, I'm listening right now to Alex Jones rant on the dangers of the New World Order on Coast To Coast AM, so paranoia comes easily ...).
Fred has won elections by appealing to those who pay some attention, and by speaking sensibly to them.
I fear this election will be won by whomever bamboozles the most sheeple, especially in the major cities. The main stream media holds more power over this audience than does someone like Fred Thompson. A higher percentage of actual (or fraudulent) voters will be sheeple in this election than in the ones Fred has won in the past.
Go Fred! (but I worry for you, and this nation.)
