NEW DELHI At least 17 people were killed in a suspected Maoist attack in the Giridh district of eastern India's Jharkhand state early Saturday morning, according to reports. Among the dead was the son of a former chief minister Babulal Marandi.
According to NDTV television channel, around 30 people allegedly Maoists attacked Chilkari village of Giridh district, about 300 kilometers away from the state capital Ranchi, at around 1 a.m. during a cultural function.
