CNN has been searching the past year for heroes in six catagories, but they have found almost none in the ranks of military, police or firefighters.

Bob Kunkle, a wounded Vietnam veteran who has been been teaching the wounded of the current war self-defense in order to encourage and empower them to become enabled rather than disabled, is the only military related entry. Bob told me that should he win, he would only accept the CNN recognition if some of the true heroes can accompany him.
