Islamic history month fizzles in Toronto

Organizers of Islamic history month are mulling over why their project has failed to achieve the same success in Toronto that it's found in other parts of the country.
The Canadian Islamic Congress declared October to be Islamic history month and received support from many cities and school boards, including Ottawa, Vancouver and Kingston, but not Toronto.
Zafar Bangash, director of the Islamic Society in York Region, said the success of black history month inspired his community to try something similar.
But he said organizers were late getting started, which may explain why the Toronto school board was reluctant to jump on board.
McKell said he's open to meeting with representatives from the Islamic community to discuss how they can get together and make the concept work next October.

Organizers of Islamic history month are mulling over why their project has failed to achieve the same success in Toronto that it's found in other parts of the country.Probably due to the fact that here in Toronto we encounter muslims often enough that we actually know a bit about their behaviour. It's not easy to propagate a myth when the real thing is staring us in the face.

At their best, they helped preserve a lot of knowledge during the Dark Ages but they never actually created anything. Most of the achievements of the Arabs and Persians predate Islam.

I’d prefer that all good Muslims observe embarrassed silence on behalf of their terrorist brethren, and then demonstrate to us (perhaps once again) by their good deeds that they belong with the rest of civilized society. I believe we have seen altogether too many demands and calls for Society to “understand” and “accommodate” and “celebrate” their “unique diversity and identity”. Let’s first see if they share with us, instead, a common Humanity.
When the next plane slams into a skyscraper, will they be dancing in the streets, or enlisting to fight the terrorists with the rest of us?
That is the Acid Test. They can have their Islamic History Month after they ace that exam.

Another great and humorous discussion “ping” to ya...
I like the idea of celebrating at the gun range idea...
I could find new ways to be hated there...

I’d say the Canadians got something right, but then the Muslims will be back next year with this idea, since the article stated that they got a late start on it. Schools shouldn’t be promoting this unless they have approval from the District, which I hope never happens. Islam is a religion, not a culture. Christians and Jews don’t have months, not to mention a week. There is a reason.

The Muslims are trying to cover for the atrocities their folks have committed in recent history. It is true that they used to make contributions to science, geography, astronomy, etc. However, recently the contributions in geography have been to better identify targets, and science of weapons. Oh yeah, they're great at predicting the cycles of the moon too.

Islam is a religion, not a culture.
Practiced fully and faithfully as a religion, it sure looks
a lot more like Thuggee or Bushido, than Judaism or Christianity.
But I'd better be quiet.
I don't want to lose the extra "kindness" Muslims are suppossed to
extend to "People of The Book".

Please provide a list of the things the Muslims preserved through the Dark Ages, including the source of such claims - in fact most importantly, the source....

What’s the “extra kindness”?
They use a sharp knife rather than a dull one when they behead you?

Gad, I shouldn't laugh at that.
But that wouldn't suprise me. That a truly observant Islamic would
think of that as a kindness!

Please explain. If you meant thuggery, I'm with you. I'll take Judaism and Christianity over Islam any day. But I'd better be queit. I don't want to lose the extra "kindness" Muslims are suppossed to extend to "People of The Book". LOLOLOL!!!! Hopefully they won't hear us lock and load./*

The Thuggee religion was a murder cult preying on unsuspecting travellers who basically killed and robbed the travellers. They were effectively dealt with by the Brits in India in the middle 1800s. They Brits got rid them by employing intelligence, paid informers and profiling. Basically they killed them until there weren’t any more.
But then they didn’t have political correctionists to hinder them. It still took 45 years to get rid of them.

Thank you ever so much! After the savaging I’ve been taking on various threads today, you civility and kindness is a relief! I enjoy learning new things, especially from the unpretentious! Thank you again!
As for the Thuggee. I feel silly, since that is obviously the root of the word “thug”. Anyway, we seem to be doing the same as the Brits did. It just doesn’t get touted by the MSM. Can’t hurt the insurgents’ feelings, right?
message anytime, my friend!
