Jindal is really good. And he’s talking about “getting back to principles” as the way for Republicans to win elections. Gee, where have I heard that before?

Jindal for president in 2012 or 2016?

I thought Lincoln a sitting Representative

He was not.

Eisenhower was an exception as well since he came into office from the military.

So was Hoover and Grant who never served in elected office before being elected President.

Eric Shawn on Fox News discussing the arson in California”

“This is an immense crime of immense enormity.”

That is a verbatim quote.

Paul Krugman insists there’s going to be a recession even if there isn’t really a recession.

Here's his Washington Post column.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/03/AR2007100302061.html

He's makes very good points. No one's looking for a blanket immunity protecting reporters from having to divulge any sources. This bill mostly codifies into law that which is already Justice Department policy. As Olsen writes, it simply gives federal judges the authority to ensure that federal prosecutors are following those rules, which have been in place for over 35 years.

I have mixed feelings on this. I think some protections for reporters is necessary, though I'd probably be in favor of a more limited protection than that which seems to be offered by this bill. This bill does not privilege the disclosure of classified material, for example, but I would extend that to any case where the anonymous source probably acted unlawfully. Also, the reporter's testimony should be compelled if it is material to someone else's criminal defense, such as in the Libby case.

While I'm never comfortable with anonymous sources, it's undeniable that they have accomplished some good. For instance, how much would we have learned about the Clinton Administration's excesses if no one could rely on reporters keeping their identities confidential?

Rather than protection for a group of people, I see this more as protection of an activity that is, sometimes, essential to the exercise of a constitutionally protected right.

Just got done watching Boxer whine on CNN about the President calling World War 3 by its name. Trent Lott provides a limp-wristed counterpoint.

Sigh... Fox News. Guaranteed to breathlessly and sensationalistically report any and all disasters with high drama and vapid detail.

I did not know that about Wilmington.

but hey, Delaware is the first state. We only have three counties-Sussex, Kent and Newcastle.

I hail from Maryland and everything there is named after England places too.

I’m thinking that maybe the English settled the first thirteen colonies but not sure if they still teach this sort of thing in school.

Myself, I thank God every day that the British got here first because....well logic. The British were, and are, freedom-loving peoples. Naturally they bought their belief system with them.

Course once America got going we soon developed our own sense of independence and then hadda throw the Brits overboard.

My own ancestors came here in 1663 and been fighting the wars and battles ever since. Sure, we were on the wrong side in the civil war but you can believe the McLaughlins were always ready for a fight. My niece wrote a book about the early McLaughlins and go to hell they were right in there during the Revolutionary beating the hell up outta the limeys.

Heh.

Indeed and I trust it is so in this case. One small comfort I tend to buy mainly supermarket own brands rather than branded items and I would suspect it would be makes such as Cadbury’s and Nestle they would target.

Huckabee talking tough on Iran and Kurdish terrorists, but refusing to give clear answers.

In response to Wolf pointing out that we never found WMD's in Iraq, "We haven't found Jimmy Hoffa, either, but we know he exists."

So you have a Kent county I wonder if you have Kentish names in that county.

I was born in Sussex but lived most of my life in Kent in fact 31 years in Ashford, Kent.

Thanks yet again for your outstanding “nuggets.”

We truly live in a different world from that spun by the MSM. They’re like the fabled three blind men trying to explain an elephant, but add to their blindness, their leftist agendas.

Even though they are blind, they “see” what they want to “see.”

then the levys broke and the Clintons evaporated....

And now it seems that some of the Louisiana Dims may be going the same way. I was impressed with the Jindal interview on FNS.

In a time of political turmoil when we have the Pubs being assailed by a collection of ideological Mad Hatters from without and within the party, it's nice to see voters in Louisiana getting it Right. It's not easy to fool a majority that has suffered at the hands of those who bring nothing to the table but "I feel your pain..." Especially when the termites making those empty declarations are responsible for the pain!
