How many "valid" passports will actually be forged, or by "valid" do they mean the newer secure passports?I know that the new U.S. passports are more secure, but the passports of other countries may be the same old stuff with pasted in pictures and stuff. They would probably have the old (and therefore easier to forge) passports from other countries.

My response in the context of the posting was the federal reciprocity law regarding drivers license.

Spitzer is no dummy and had this all figured out before he ever issued his driver licenses plan. He got the half-loaf from Chertoff he wanted in the first place.
The other half-loaf will come if Hillary is elected, maybe sooner.
Spitzer, Chertoff and el Presidente played major league ball here........and what looks to us bush-leaguers like a half-victory for Spitzer is, in reality, a total victory for the slick triumverate.

Well, he was elected in a year when some GOPers stayed home because they wanted to teach the GOP a lesson.

I think the only thing left to do is wait for the next president to take action. Hate to break your bubble, but it will not happen. Look at who the old media is pushing....Look at the candidates and where they have stood for the past twenty years, not today, but twenty years ago. This nation is about to go the way of Rome, if Americans do not stop this insanity of illegals swarming into the nation. You do not believe me.....come back and tell me you do not believe me in five years. It will not be long now!

Michael Chertoff and his agency has no credibility anyway. Who could be surprised that he makes a deal to ok licenses for illegals in New York? I would recommend my state not accept NY licenses as valid in Georgia if this goes through. (Plus that kicks Florida in the butt in our water war because these NY yankees would have to detour through Alabama to get to Florida for the winter.)
BTW: UGA 42 UF 30 I love it!
Chertoff is doing the socialist work for Bush. Congratulations on your victory over Florida! BTW UConn 22 South Florida 17 and I love that!

How many illegal immigrants have a valid foriegn passport? They are the legal citizens of some country. I would think that most should be able to attain valid passports from their home countries.
To: untrained skeptic
I would think that most should be able to attain valid passports from their home countries. This is a true statement. But whether they actually will is another question. Most illegals cross the southern border looking for jobs. They don't require a passport to do that, just the money to pay a coyote to get them across the border. Why would they get a passport if they don't actually need one?
To: Man50D
The "deal" creates a 3 tier system of New York driver's licenses. The only version that illegal aliens can attain is clearly marked that is not valid for federal identification purposes and clearly marks the holder as an illegal alien.
It isn't going to be of any significant help in illegal aliens getting jobs.
It isn't going to help them gain residence in the US.
The reason that DHS can't do anything to stop Spitzer is that the driver's license for illegal aliens is pretty much a worthless political gesture that other than costing New York taxpayers a fortune to implement, won't really do anything.
Spitzer's pandering to illegal aliens is shameful, but it's also pretty much hollow.
To: Man50D
Spitzer.... New York "will usher in the most secure licensing system in the nation." A second version of the license will meet new federal standards of the Real ID Act.... harder for illegal immigrants or would-be terrorists to obtain licenses.
A third type of license will be available to undocumented immigrants.

The DHS license was the plan for NY illegals all along. The orders must have came from Hillary. Spitzer’s original plan was so outrageous, he knew it would be panned by everyone making the compromise with DHS look like roses, when in reality its a nightmre. This has always been about getting illegals into the polls. The average poll worker will look at a gov’t issued ID fro an illegal and let them vote. No one wants to be called a racist. This sets up the situation for other states to do the same thing with DHS as well.

What’s the difference between an American citizen and an illegal alien in America?
