Q. Is it possible to get through an extended interview of Valerie Plame Wilson without mentioning Richard Armitage?
A. Yes, if Joe Scarborough is the interviewer.
The "Morning Joe" host conducted a 15-minute conversation with and about Plame today, much of which focused on her "outing" as a CIA operative. But the name of the State Department official who first disclosed her identity was never uttered. That wouldn't have fit the template that the disclosure was a nasty White House plot to punish Plame's husband Joe Wilson. Armitage, at State, was anything but a partisan GOP operative with an anti-Wilson axe to grind.
Along the way, with a little help from Joe, Plame tried to paint herself as someone who, far from seeking "Vanity Fair" fame, had celebrity thrust on her in a moment of distraction.
Give guest panelist and MSNBC military analyst Jack Jacobs credit for being willing to rock the boat -- at least during the panel's chitchat that immediately preceded Plame's introduction:

Why in the world is Rush supporting this Joe jerk?
Wasn’t aware he was. Could you elaborate? Thanks.
Oh, you mean by appearing on his show, I bet. I think it’s because Joe was supportive of Rush regarding the Reid’s “phony soldiers” smear.
It’s embarassing to see a grown woman continue telling lies that have been PROVEN to be falsehoods. It is disgusting to see the media collaborate in allowing her to hawk her book containing the lies.
But Scooter Libby committed the largest act of treason in the history of the US by not recounting his story exactly like a reporter. Perhaps Scotter needed to take better notes when he talked to reporters. I felt much safer with Scooter off the streets while it lasted.
Graduate of Cindy Sheehan school of Publicity Whoredom.
I resent being told by the MSM and the Plame-Wilsons that I should swallow mutually exclusive stories regarding Plame.
On the one hand
I am supposed to accept, as gospel-truth,
the "fact" that Plame was a super-duper, wonder woman, top-secret CIA agent who had our nation's security in her hands
and on the other hand
I am supposed to accept, as gospel truth,
the "fact" that she is a befuddled mother of two who
1. needed her husband close at hand to help with their twins (Joe used this argument to "prove" she wasn't involved in sending him to Niger)
2. suffered from post-partum depression (she started a support group)
3. got snookered into a deal with Vanity Fair
The transcript* of her appearance on "Morning Joe" illustrates, yet again, that she was a weak individual. Stress her a bit, and she collapses.
Valerie Plame isn't the kind of person we want to have protecting our national security.
*Plame: "uh, they came in, uh, asked me to do it, and, uh, I -- just too much was going on at that time."
Scooter could have saved himself an enormous tragedy by simply saying, “I don’t recall.”
” I noted I had travelled extensively overseas under a variety of covers, a variety of aliases, doing covert operations work right up until the point when my name was betrayed by these senior administration officials.”
I’ll bet she was what the KGB used to call a “Swallow!”
More propaganda. This must be a payoff for standing behind the lies they have told.
Yea, he hardly ever does that. A lot of people supported Rush but he didn’t go on their shows.
Joe, “you were raising two twins”
No silly! She was raising three twins!
Anybody else catch Joe Scarborough giving Mika’s little brother air time this morning?
