“Yeah, like pulling a gun and lobbing fire bombs is showing his desire to settle the matter peacefully.”

Pappy, the guy was probably pretty distressed. He did a dumb thing but people tend to do dumb things when they feel there’s no hope. Hell, even when you’ve paid your house off and have the title in your hand you don’t own it. If you don’t pay your taxes you lose your property and if you resist your life. If a bureaucrat wants to give your property to one of his developer buddies you lose your property.

Myself, I would have saved my life for battles I could win.

I think this is more than distressed. It sounds like he was prepared for battle.

Houston Chronicle website includes some rather strange responses. Many are blaming Bush’s spending money on war rather than using it to “help” people out. Couple of them are going to vote for Hillary instead instead of Bush (didn’t know he was running). Loonies are loose! Financially - NOT EMOTIONALLY - kids are probably better off. SS will pay almost $1,000 a month for each child until age 18 or graduation from high school.

That "drug addiction" thing might have had something to do with it.

Probably had something to do with his divorce and depression as well. But, hey, let's spin this into a "suicide due to home foreclosure" story. It's all the rage these days.

The house appraised by Harris County was only for $119K. The guy had been in the house since 2001. Federal Home Loan Mortgage Company now has the house.

Well, he said he was a chemist, he could have avoided the middleman.

This guy was spending his money on the wrong things -- if he was really interested in keeping the house!

My thought exactly. Surveillance cams are expensive!

Sounds like there was more at work here than a simple eviction notice. If this guy was hell-bent on killing himself, it's fortunate that he didn't take anyone along with him.

Texas is like that. Remember Waco? They could have gotten David Koresh on one of his morning jogs. Instead they brought the feds in and killed innocent women and children for no reason except to glorify the BATF and help its budget funding. That is one we should never forget.

Williams said Hahn was recently divorced, depressed and struggled with financial problems and drug addiction.

He seems to have had more problems than his credit score and willingness to read the fine print.

Riiiiight. I am sure it had nothing to do with his divorce or his drug addiction...

Let me fix your sentence for you. He was an irresponsible drug addict who causes his own ruin, not content to forfeit his house, he forfeited his life.”
