I respect Ron Paul’s views on a lot of things. However, his views on foreign policy are over the cliff. Yes, in a perfect world I would love it if America could just worry about our own borders and let the rest of these countries blow themselves to pieces. However, if America does not take care of the fanatics overseas, then we will be taking care of them over here.
Every time in the past 100 years that we have retreated from world involvement look what happens. In the 20s and 30s we retreated from the world after WWI and we got WWII. In the 70’s we retreated from the world after Viet Nam and look what we got. The creep of communism almost up to our doorstep. If Jimmy Carter would have gotten a second term, I’m sure that Mexico would have been next as the communists were creeping up central America.
Unfortunately, for our own national security we have to be involved in world affairs and beat back this Islamo fascist menace. You think that the Iraq war is a drain on our economy? What would be the drain on our economy if we had a 9/11 type of scenario (or worse) every year?
As good as the FBI, CIA and the rest of homeland security has been at preventing another 9/11, the Islamo fascists only have to succeed once to create another catastrophe in this country. The best way to prevent it is to hunt them down and kill them and their leaders before they ever get here.
You need to step away from the crack pipe if you think a nutjob like Ron Paul has any real chance.
Hold these at the Post office or the DMV office and they can bump up their numbers by taking credit for the LaRouchies...
There was no civil war going on before we got there, Paul said.
They had a ruthless dictatorship, Ron.
I just love ol’ Elron posts on FR—I know I can count of a good laugh or at least a chuckle or two from fellow Freepers.
And so you prove my point.
That’s probably the simplest and most coherent response to Paul’s neo-isolationist foreign policy that I’ve yet seen here on FR. Thank you!

“supposedly open minded group”
Ahh, that’s where you’re mistaken. FR posters are not all that open minded. There was a thread a few months ago lamenting the lack of diversity of opinion here. Many posters wrote in to say they liked it that way. Their opinion was that there are plenty of other places where people with different opinions can share their thoughts and that FR should stay focused on just ideas they agree with.
I didn’t say the gov’t wasn’t “screwing us” did I....improve your reading comprehension friend......I did say I have NO CONFIDENCE in Ron Paul changing it....because, Ron Paul will NOT GET ELECTED....in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t backed (probably unknowingly) by Soros and Clinton.....but, carryon....
Thank you for your sanity here.
ah, my mistake.... i think he can win, but even if not, i don’t think ‘electability’ is a great place to start in shopping for candidates who represent your beliefs...
Since the schools gave up teaching civics most of the younger generation resorts to the newspapers for American history. They yet have to learn from their mistakes.
Same old, same old....
‘Wonder what he would have done in WWII?’
Probably the same as Taft....

Isolationism Strikes Again
By Ronald Radosh
...”To the isolationists, Franklin D. Roosevelt was not a democratically elected President, but a virtual dictator, who if the U.S. went to war, as Senator Robert A. Taft put it, would become a complete dictator over the lives and property of our citizens. Like the left today, Taft claimed that the President was presiding over a state that allegedly had become fascist, and in which the President showed a complete lack of regard for the rights of Congress, and in which he was making policy in violation of the peoples will.
Seems Americans are suffering from Historical Amnesia. -gris

All you have to do is look at Hillary owned supporter, Media Matters, for your answer. They love RP also. And I seriously doubt he isn’t aware of his support there.
It is amazing to me, that all one has to do to really stir things up, is mention his name and all hell breaks out. Even on the lib sites. I would like to see a Gravel/Paul debate. Would be hilarious.
Thank you for your kind words.
goodnesswins,
I have often thought about a Paul/Gravelle debate also. I think it would be a ratings getter!!
Cobert can do the moderating.
I’m ashamed to say that Ron Paul is from my neck of the woods (Pittsburgh, PA)..
Why does the name, Lyndon LaRouche, come to mind?
Just curious, is there a Mrs. Ron Paul?
