I reckon I know something about airboats. Just hop in your canoe, and go catch the extra gators, problem solved! Airboats have been around as long as I can remember, never cost me any sleep.
When we camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park last winter (a great spot, BTW—going again this winter), there was a fishing tournament going out from a marina probably 5 miles from the campground. It was amazing to hear, even from that distance away. What I don’t get is why people don’t put mufflers on the boats. You’d think it would drive the boat operators deaf. Does a muffler affect boat performance so much that owners won’t install one?
I’ve been out on Lake Kissimmee in a kayak, but only in winter when the alligators aren’t that active. Couldn’t get me out there in a kayak in springtime.
I can sympathize with the homeowners on Lake Toho, but only to a point. It’s like building a home on a flood plain, then complaining when you get flooded all the time. The airboats were there long before the new, fancy developments went in.
