King Abdullah, the first Saudi monarch to visit Britain in a generation, embarrassed his hosts even before his arrival this evening by suggesting the government had ignored a Saudi intelligence tip that might have prevented a wave of transit bombings two years ago.
The explosions killed 52 passengers and four bombers, who targeted three underground trains and a double-decker bus in the British capital during the busy morning of July 7, 2005.
Hours before his jetliner was due to land in London, Abdullah told the British Broadcasting Corp. in a rare interview that we have sent information to Britain before the terrorist attack
but unfortunately no action was taken.
King Abdullah complained that most countries are not taking this issue [of international terrorism] seriously, including, unfortunately, Great Britain."
Saudi Arabia, the homeland to 15 of the 19 September 11 hijackers, has itself been criticized for its approach to fighting terrorism.
The State Department's 2006 terrorism report cites a "mix of successes and setbacks" in the Saudi effort... the kingdom had suffered embarrassing prison breaks and still faced difficulties "in combating the appeal of [al Qaeda] ideology."

Liiiike yours?
On a side note, he's actually right about that. We aren't securing our borders, the Dems want to close Gitmo, kill FISA, stop the wiretappings, and withdraw from Iraq. And Britain has allowed Iranian students to study nuclear physics at their universities and is becoming overrun with Muslim immigrants. Not that King Abdullah has any room to talk, because his own country is a big funder of terrorism. I wonder if he's seen The Kingdom...

In a BBC aired interview, the ruling Saudis issued preposterous, cheeky threats in the direction of the UK & US, warning against any future action directed at Iran. Extremely hypocritical criticisms concerning American 'anti-terrorist policies' in Iraq were also declared, regarding the very Sunni terrorists these Arabian OPEC oil barons are funding in Iraq. The jihadist enemy is not only in Tehran & Damascus, but they are in Riyadh as well.
We need to wipe the Islamic/energy slate clean, however the problem is historic & ongoing crude oil imports from the very one's bankrolling an Islamic crusade of terror against the West. The 'western energy lobby' is far more advised and lucrative to continue the Saudi relationship - then our own national security, as they dish out hefty favours to elected officials in both Washington and London, making sure the Wahhabist tyrants continue running the show in Riyadh.
Supporting Islamic terrorism via Western oil sales.
