“down shift” = sorry mods.
Yeah, some harleys do corner well, especially the Buells and Sportsters. I’ve seen harleys whos riders have a hard time negotiating parking lots because of their inability to lean much. Generally speaking, if performance is your bag, you don’t get a Harley. It’s not the point.
But yeah, if only those newbies actually did some experimentation before they decide to corner hard on public roads. It really is about experience and paying attention.

Yep. Personally, I think if you are a new comer to biking, you should start off with a 350 or 450. Enough acceleration to avoid being a road hazard, but not enough to flip you off the bike if you hit the throttle a bit hard in a panick.
Most don’t have the advantage of learning to ride in a harvested cornfield for example.
My Intruder (1500 LC) weights around 650 pounds ‘dry’. Huge tires, especially compared to my friends HD Sportsters or Super Glides. I can handle it in a parking lot because I’ve been riding bikes since I was ten (1968) and I’ve been riding this particular bike for four years now. Its the biggest one I’ve ever owned, and I love that sucker.
Place mark to show my husband, who keeps thinking a motorcycle would be a peachy solution to the gas crisis - not.
That is the biggest load of fecal material I have ever seen
A recently retired buddy of mine belongs to the Wolverine Harley Motorcycle club here in S.E. Mich. and a couple of weeks ago he invited me to one of their meetings. I had the good fortune of running into 5 friends I knew from my plant who went on to other things (including retirement) when the plant closed 12/2006.
I spent the next week trying to convince myself to buy the Suzuki Boulevard M50 but given the traffic situation where I live I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Its too bad because that Suzuki is one gorgeous looking bike........
