It’s an acquired taste. We lived in LA (Lower Alabama) for 11 years and never acquired the taste for them.
We stopped at a stand in Cherokee Village and bought some to see what they were like. They were the nastiest things I ever tried. They were absolutely rancid--like kerosene. We all spit them out and threw the bag away. We don't know if they all taste that way, or the stand was a bad one. There was no peanut taste.
Is that how they normally are or did we get a bad batch? We've never wanted to try again.
