or you could look at it the OTHER way. lots of churches do a hallelujah night/ trunk or treat.
safe place for the kids to have fun, get candy and evangelise. invite your children’s schoolmates/ neighborhood kids.

Or sit out on your porch and pass out tracts, or bible verses attached to candy.

the best way to evangelise is to go where God is needed most. God didn’t give the great commission saying, “hang out in church and hope the sinners come to you” he said “go into all the world preaching the gospel.”

The parents who allow the child to dress like a slut or whore are not really parents in my eyes.

The sad part is the sorry ass parenting that would allow a child to dress like that will probably result in her growing up to be a slut.

i was thinking about the old devil’s night tradition in detroit.. arson!
unfortunately, the city would probably subsidize it to get rid of some of the blight, taking all the fun from it.

Okay, okay . . . Point taken. I’ll try to dress more modestly.

“Cheryl Cirenza shook her head in exasperated disbelief. “This is all so inappropriate. It’s really disturbing.””

I wonder if after shaking her head she kept her children in public schools.

The Cirenzas are friends of mine. They are devout Catholics and their kids all attend Catholic schools. Cheryl is a fulltime mom and does a great job. Their girls all dress very modestly.

But not all Catholic school parents are as conservative. I know a few there in Alexandria who would never dream of sending their kids to public schools, but their daughters are sluts.

"This is all so inappropriate. It's really disturbing."

Because of the Samhain roots of Halloween, I am not a bit surprised at the revealing nature of costumes for Halloween. It is not a good 'helliday' to keep.

50 years ago everyone made their own costumes. Mothers, Fathers and children would be creative and use their imagination to create some pretty fantastic costumes. Now you just pick something up at the store.

Actually, I don't celebrate Christmas with Christmas trees either.

It wouldn't be a disturbing trend if the SCHMUCK parents wouldn't buy the crap. What is wrong with most of you? (parents)

He said suggestive costumes for girls burst onto the scene about three years ago and the phenomenon is so big that he's had to create a separate fashion show. The costumes have since moved to the plus-size market for adult women and now come in teen and preteen versions. Even little girl costumes show more leg and tummy than they used to. "They're just good sellers," Thaler said.

This guy Thaler is a CRAPITALIST. and he is a scumbag to boot. If they all wanted to go around with crotchless panties and a a shirt that said "Jihad" on it, you would make it for them, you creep, if it was a "good seller"? Mein Kampf sold well, too, you piece of sh!t. But then again, it goes back to the majority of parents, who have failed their kids time and time again in the past and present, and will claim ignorance as to why they never amounted to anything in the future.

I moved away from Alexandria, Virginia 3 years ago, partly to get my kids away from the corrosive culture there. There were sixth-grade girls throwing themselves at boys, drinking parties at eighth-graders' houses, and all kinds of nonsense going on. Lots of very self-involved parents with bigtime Washington careers who did not pay enough attention to their kids. We moved to a small town in Pennsylvania and, while it isn't completely immune from the trash in the culture, it seems to be a much more conservative area with more involved parents, and kids who are not trying to be little adults all the time.

I have a 10-year-old daughter (she used to be friends with Gabby Cirenza, and got a big kick out of this story) and I am grateful that she is not interested in slutwear, even for Halloween. She and her friend are going as "The Blues Sisters," with black suits and ties, hats, and sunglasses. I don't think I will see any junior hoes in my neighborhood either.

I’m amazed the Compost actually used the term “Halloween” instead of the more PC “Harvest Day.”

How about Thanksgiving? Like Anya the Vengeance Demon said in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, “you slaughter and consume an animal to celebrate an event - ritual sacrifice...with pie”.
