For example, after officials filed criminal charges against eight Marines on the grounds that they were involved in massacring 24 unarmed civilians in Haditha, Iraq, the Corps assembled one of the biggest legal teams in recent history to prosecute the men. But Vokey says officials told him he had to use a much smaller team to defend them. "It made me very angry," Vokey says. "We didn't have the people and the tools that we needed to adequately defend these Marines. It really sends a message that the Marine Corp's trying to railroad these guys."

Well, no poop, Sherlock. The "message" has been obvious from the beginning. OF COURSE the Perfumed Princes of the Pentagon and their civilian bosses are trying to scapegoat and railroad the Haditha Marines. It's all about running like scared bunnies from the liberal Democrat newsrooms while at the same time cozying up to the Democrats in Congress.
Other than the above quote and his disgust with defense resources provided to accused Marines, however, Volkey is out of line. He sounds like the typical ACLU sort that has so seriously infected JAG like an oozing boil of puss during the past 10 - 15 years. The detainees at Guantanamo? Gimme a break. And his lame excuse for his unwillingness to name names says a lot.
But in the end, an NPR story which lauds a Marine Corps officer says more than anything.
Totally Agreed.
This administration has been cowardly and shamefully RINO. No guts to stand up to the press and the Rats on any PC issues.
I am also inclined to believe the rest of your surmises, but will withhold judgment, and take a wait and see attitude. But you are certainly right as to what it SOUNDS like...
