I get unsalted roasted peanuts in the shell for the Jays. I'm just guessing that the salted ones wouldn't be good for them.
The Jays also bury most of their peanuts in the lawn, tapping them deep into the grass then usually putting a twig or leaf over their hidden treasure before flying back for another peanut.
JK tried to get a photo of the birds taking peanuts out of my hand, but they are so quick that he wasn't able to. Here are a couple of them just before and just after grabbing the peanut.
Thank you. :-)
Amy is responsible for all the fun and funny stuff.....I just add the graphics and lay everything out. We're a good team. ;-)
Good night. It's been a long day.
Good night, MEG. I know you have already left, but you will get this ping tomorrow. The Finest appreciates you so much. Thank you for all of your contributions. :-)
Me neether....:)
Lori what wonderful pix of you feeding the jays. I wonder if they ever find the peanuts they bury?
. I still haven’t figured out what the one jay did with my egg shells. He/she made regular trips to a planter whre had them. I recycle egg shells to plants containers. When the cats noted this they were quite excited about the prospect of dinner. so I put all the shells in a basket in high limb of the tropical plant they were formerly at the bottom of. The jay took them all, one by one. Funny to see him fly away with half an egg shell in mouth. I should have gotten pix. Next time I put some out will try to have camera ready
It's clear enough to me. You've got a bird that likes to work on crossword puzzles.
I bet your jay was eating the egg shells. Our jays often cling to the side of our house and peck at the stucco. I think it serves as gravel for their craw. Maybe egg shells do the same thing.
Do you enjoy having that many trick-or-treaters? I think I would, especially not having any anymore.
That’s what I get living in the woods in a gingerbread house.
I can tell Scruffy and Precocious apart now by their size. Precocious is bigger. And they each have a different personality. Scruffy is much less "grabby". Precocious grabs his peanut and darts off....no "thank you" or "I appreciate it", nothin'. LOL

READ: Matthew 22:15-22
Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesars, and to God the things that are Gods. Matthew 22:21
In a report in USA Today, Rick Hampson wrote: The young generally dont have the old-time political religion. They look at voting and see a quaint, irrational act. One graduate was quoted as saying, I dont care enough to care about why I dont care. I wonder if this is how we as Jesus-followers sometimes view our civic responsibility!
The insights of Jesus in Matthew 22 helped His followers think clearly about their civic duty in the world. The Jews were required to pay taxes to the Roman government. They hated this taxation because the money went directly into Caesars treasury, where some of it supported the pagan temples and decadent lifestyle of the Roman aristocracy. They may have questioned whether they even had a civic responsibility to Caesar. Jesus reminded them, however, that they had dual citizenship. They lived in a world with two kingdomsCaesars kingdom (human authority) and Gods kingdom (spiritual authority). They had responsibilities to both, but their greater responsibility was to God and His kingdom (Acts 5:28-29).
As followers of Christ, we are commanded to cooperate with our rulers, but we are called to give God our ultimate obedience and commitment.
Amy, the Pics of Marissa are Precious! Time is just Flying by, and it won't be Long before she is All Grown Up. Our Dear Lord Shower her with His Best Blessings!
Dolly, that was Frightening about your Mirror on your Car being Hit. :( Praise God He was Watching Over you, Sweet FRiend, and that He Sent Toby Back to you!
Thank you to Everyone for their Pings!
Wonderful pictures of your feeding the jays! Our bluejays are different but years ago they used to come down and get the peanuts from the patio, as did a red bellied woodpecker...
I have much denser shade and less open area over the patio now and they may not spy them..I slept late and don’t know who took the ones I left there last night.squirrels are my bet..
I looked for roasted in the shell peanuts..but all I found were salted..I’m going to ask a clerk next time.
You and Amy are a great team indeed.
I had an Armand Joy!
LOL
Thanks, L.J.
