Did this type of thing happen back in the 50’s, 60’s 70s like it does now? Maybe it did and we didn’t hear about it because it didn’t make the evening news. Or is it happening more now. Seems there are regular stories about a child or pet being left unattended in a car.

Did this type of thing happen back in the 50s, 60s 70s like it does now? Interesting point. I think that forty or fifty years ago
(a) no cars had air-conditioning so we left the windows open most of the time, even when the car was parked. We were less worried about car theft then.
(b) Very few mothers of small children worked and drove their children around to drop off somewhere.

Back then we didn’t have rear facing child car seats in the rear seat either. Also, there was no feminist movement telling women that they didn’t need husbands or even men for that matter....they could have it all.

Of course, one big reason is putting kids in the back seat because of the air bags in the front seat.

That’s because our parents *couldn’t* forget us while we were standing in the front seat (my preferred mode of travel when I was little;)

Did this type of thing happen back in the 50s, 60s 70s like it does now? Nope.
Lower taxes back then....both parents didn't have to work to survive.
Prior to the feminist movement....women didn't feel the need to work to be "equal."
Prior to laws requiring babies to be strapped in a back seat facing the rear of the car....out of sight, out of mind.

I’ll bet you it didn’t. The common denominator in most of these stories is that the parent FORGOT TO DROP THE CHILD OFF A DAY CARE. The sad trend of women working full time and offloading their babies somewhere seems to be the culprit. They are accustomed to not being with their baby for long stretches of time.

Did this type of thing happen back in the 50s, 60s 70s like it does now?No. In the late 40's, the 50's, 60's, and into the 70's, the mothers were at home, caring for their children.
