“Wolfie is very concerned.”

Actually Blitzer used to work for AIPAC and lived in Israel in the past, reporting for the Israeli media. He does actually know the region well.

No stinking CNN lies, spins, or BS are allowed in this house.

Smart man! CNN's actually a pathogen. Victims come away with less intelligence after each exposure.

I would think this decision by the Israeli cable operator HOT was purely economic. Fox would likely have many more viewers than CNN and consequently greater advertising revenue. I wonder when the US cable operators will figure this out?

Probably never.

Many if not most cable companies are owned and controlled by liberals, and they are bed with the liberal city and country governments where they have the monopoly.

This just in.... I am working in Haifa, Israel and came home from my work today and turned the TV on. My TV came up with FOX NEWS Channel where the CNN channel was at!!! Woohoo.
The local news was reporting within the past couple weeks that Al Jazeera (English version) may replace CNN. HOT’s contract with CNN expired last night. The reason HOT was negotiating with CNN ($$) was because CNN’s viewership has gone down. Todays news reported that CNN execs refused to come to Israel today to negotiate so they yanked them off the air.

I would be curious to know how much they were paying CNN for the privilege of carrying them. I’m sure it will cut into CNN’s bottom line. Maybe NewsCorp will make enough bank off this so Rupert can buy out a few more newspapers.

Update: A statement from a CNN spokesperson:

"We are disappointed that HOT took this course of action. Out of respect for the Knesset and the overwhelming support of the Israeli public, Turner had agreed to extend the CNN contract with HOT for 10 days in order negotiate a mutually beneficial agreement.

Late last night, HOT issued an ultimatum to Turner and demanded a 30% reduction immediately and said it did not wish to honor the 10 day extension requested by the Knesset. Turner said it could not accept such an ultimatum.

CNN will continue to be widely available in Israel via YES the satellite platform."

There will be more and more demand for Fox - just like here in the U.S.

Ted is understandably bitter having lost his ratings, his network, and now his mind.

We wish him well....</sarcasm>

What was the reason given by the cable company for getting rid of CNN?

So this is all financial, and has nothing to do with CNN’s ideological bias in their news coverage?

CNN International is 27 miles to the left of CNN/USA. It is no exaggeration at all to call it the "Castro News Network."

Not if you consider that CNN’s ideological bias in their news coverage caused their viewership to plummet, which in turn reduced the value of their product. Just as with Err America a station with no viewers sells no advertising, which in turn leads to no money for bills or payroll. Liberalism doesn't sell.
