Of course ignoring the climate change cost is snubbing Algore, but he is probably able to get over it.

How much did that one cost? I forgot... I thought it was supposed to be comparable to the production cost for oil on a per barrel basis, but with pretty low output....

Getting realistic, we’re going to have to be pretty creative to keep up with energy demands, and just one solution probably won’t cut it... so why not try this?

They need to find a jetty that creates a reliable riptide and engineer a housed water turbine to catch flow of the returning tide. That way you can work on land, don’t have to get barges to haul stuff out to sea, risk becoming a hazard to navigation, and lose your generator to storms and sinking.

The company plans to recover the $2 million buoy next spring, when the ocean calms...

And they need a bouy to learn if there is energy in the ocean?

Oh, I'm sure you've heard it. They're out on the ocean and, yada yada yada, and she says, "Those aren't buoys".

The ocean is a difficult environment, corrosive, rough, full of things that will foul nice machinery. The idea has been floated for many years - I read stories in the 50’s (Popular Science) featuring a wave powered electric generator. I guess the ROI isn’t there yet.
