DETROIT (AP) - Six Arabic-speaking men have sued American Airlines, saying they were publicly humiliated while being escorted from an aborted flight in San Diego.
The six Michigan men filed an ethnic discrimination suit in Detroit federal court.
They say airline employees grounded their August 28th flight from San Diego to Chicago and detained them, labeling them as security risks.
The men were flying home after training Marines at Camp Pendleton when a passenger alerted guards after hearing them speaking Arabic.
The men say they were detained while 100 other passengers got help finding hotel rooms.
The airline says it reacted to potential security concerns.
They did a pretty good job of publicly humiliating themselves. What a bunch of islmo-terrorist wannabe jerks. They should of had their butts put in jail for a couple of years.
As Mark Levin said yesterday about Media Matters: discovery, discovery, discovery. Depose them and get every email, every scrap of paper they ever wrote on, every phone call they ever made. That should be fun.
They need to be watched.
Considering their attitude, it's hard to imagine what they were teaching the Marines—was it, "How to recognize a jerk"?
There must be a lot more to this story than what’s here. Speaking Arabic isn’t nearly enough grounds. What else was going on?

That said I was under the impression the A/C Commander was the ultimate authority and had the last word on who flies and who doesn’t on his aircraft.
They are just following that American custom established by ambulance chasers....If you are offended by anything, sue!

He said that one of the men went into the bathroom and when he came out he stood next to a woman and stared at her for three to four minutes. That passenger got off the plane.

What are you seeing that I’m not? All I see is men detained for no reason AFTER training Marines.
The fact that they are suing negates the “plus” on their side—that they were involved in training Marines. If they were real patriots, they’d applaud the fact that Americans are vigilant about possible Islamo-Marxist terrorists.

Details of what happened before American Flight 590's scheduled departure late Tuesday were sketchy.
A passenger who was traveling with two children got into an argument with the Iraqi men, Wagner said. He declined to comment on the substance of the dispute.
Stephens confirmed a report by San Diego television station XETV-TV that some passengers complained after hearing the men speak Arabic, but he declined to elaborate.
"I wish I could say more because I have personal feelings, but this is what I'm allowed to say," he said.
However, your first link indicates they were acting weird enough that at least one passenger got off the plane, the flight attendants were nervous and they consulted with the pilot prior to take-off. The pilot's primary job is passenger safety, not the feelings of grown men who might get their feelings hurt.
For starters, their company should be told that the Department of Defense will take their business elsewhere if this lawsuit is not withdrawn.
It is regretable that the entire plane, including the Michigan men, were inconvenienced. However, given what little the passengers who are willing to talk say, there is a lot more involved here than ethnic profiling. AA should bring a countersuit for threatening behavior resulting in a flight cancellation. This would at least force the plantiffs to decide if they really had a case or were just hoping for a shakedown.
Are you thinking also that these men are connected to a politically active group and were trying to generate a court case and publicity?
