THERE is a reason Iraq has almost disappeared as an election issue.

Here it is: The battle is actually over. Iraq has been won.

I know this will seem to many of you an insane claim. Ridiculous!

After all, haven't you read countless stories that Iraq is a "disaster", turned by a "civil war" into a "killing field"?

Someone tell Dingy Harry and the anti-war Left we've won!

Don’t tell them, I enjoy watching them in their own little fantasy world.

I was listening to radio and USA news radio said the war is being won. Not really sure who USA radio is, but one can feel victory in the air and the MSM is starting to realize it can no longer bury the story; only the Dims in Congress can.

The War on Terror - the Iraq Front had 2 stages.
We won the first, winning the second.

If there's a 3rd stage it will involve Iran.

well this news should make everybody happy, we can pack up and go now. The Dems can pass another funding bill with troop withdrawls and Bush can sign it. When’s the ticker tape parade in Times Square begin?

We need a surge on the surge, just to make sure it stays this way.

“Don’t tell them, I enjoy watching them in their own little fantasy world.”

In the last month, while talking to several uniformed liberal friends, I mentioned that their was good news coming out of Iraq and that we were on our way to victory. They were in such denial it was pitiful! It really is not worth arguing with them because they don’t use facts and only spew some mumbo jumbo BDS rant. They really want us to loose. It is pathetic!

This is an extremely dangerous postion to stake, that the war is won - Al Qaida knows that all it needs to do is set off a catastrophic single attack (not hard to do) to destroy this conclusion, and make this look like “Mission Accomplished II”. This war will be won over years, not weeks or months.

Did you mean to say UNIformed, as in military uniform? Or did you mean (like I think you meant) UNINFORMED, as being not informed on matters...

To the contrary: this is an extremely dangerous position to stake, that the war is won - Al Qaida knows that all it needs to do is fade into the woodwork until their opponents declare victory and go home. Iraq fades from the scene, voters pick a socialist who can now focus on tying up otherwise military funds for welfare, the “stop the terrorists!” right wing loses the wind from their sails and are brushed aside, the US resumes its navel-gazing/piercing/painting, and focus on AQ vanishes and the troops are pulled home.

Then: BOOM x 100. While the US sheeple are stunned by multiple simultanious high-profile high-pain hits, AQ blows the doors off the postnatal Iraq gov’t, and interesting times arrive. (And I stop mixing my metaphors.)

A few don’t.
And the majority will have to cope therewith.

I just think it’s a little early to declare victory after 2-3 months of quiet. I suspect we’re being faked out, waiting a couple of years for us to leave so they can finish killing each other means nothing in the ME, they’ve been doing it for centuries
