The talk given by Tony is classic Snow: thoughtful analysis delivered with insight and a touch of humor. He addresses today's media and some of the problems that have developed as well as ways to correct them. It is well worth the few minutes needed to read it. I found myself rereading it to grasp the full measure of it. When you have finished reading, pass it on.

I'd like to share some phrases with a few friends who have dial-uplike me. Any other link? I couldn't find one. :(

This is an excellent and insightful speech by Tony.
That said, there are three main issues he did not address which help to complete the picture of media bias and failure.
(1) The Anti-Capitalistic Mentality--This great book by Ludwig Von Mises explains why certain groups of people inevitably hate capitalism. One of those groups is reporters, editors, and publishers, and it is important to understand _why_ that is normally the case. It is not, as Tony suggested, because of sixty years of Democratic rule. It is because they share values with the Democratic Party. An anti-capitalist is an elitist. They believe the market should not make critical decisions when "enlightened ones" like themselves are better qualified to do so. The reporters and their editors cringe at the notion that millions of uneducated blue collar workers will make purchases every day that will decide who the next billionaire is when the reporters believe that they and Gods and Goddesses like them and the politicians should make all important decisions for society.
(2) Another area Tony partially missed is the "afflict the comfortable, comfort the afflicted" concept of journalism. The biggest issue here is that the media itself has become judge, jury and executioner to decide who is "comfortable" and who is "afflicted".
The arrogance of today's biased MSM is so great that it is almost hard to believe. These people are certain they are Gods are we are dirt.
(3) My final disagreement with Tony is that I believe their God complex cannot be fixed.
Their total demise is the best solution, and should be the cause of great celebration in every corner of the land.

Thanks for the post and the ping. What on earth were you
doing up that late Foxy?! LOL!
God bless Tony in whatever new endeavors he chooses to
persue. I hope one of them is that he comes back to radio
and to us.
Another is that I hope he finally makes a visit out to see
us here in West Texas when he is doing speech tours! :D
Hint-hint, Tony!

Thanks for posting. Possibly the best analysis of the current state of journalism I’ve read. Tony set a high water mark for White House press secretaries. I do so wish he could have stayed on another year.
