WASHINGTON - Suddenly, Hillary Clinton's ascent to the White House is not the sure thing many have been thinking.
After that Democratic free-for-all in Philadelphia last Tuesday, she seems like the same-old, same-old politician who can't give a straight answer, whose credibility is in doubt. In short, she's squarely in the pit in which her rivals were determined to push her.
For a former first lady who was dragged before grand juries and prosecutors seeking to find out if she was telling the truth about the missing bills from her old law firm, the slough of doubt is not a good hole to be in right now.
She is in this fix because her campaign (and most of the media) basically had decided the Democratic presidential nomination was such a given that she should start positioning herself for a general election campaign.
In other words, she no longer had to woo just Democrats who will vote in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary but begin enticing independents and even fence-sitting Republicans who might consider voting for the first woman president.
Thus, she became a generic politician, determined not to alienate anyone, except for the dwindling population of Bushies.
She wouldn't say that Social Security and Medicare benefits either have to be cut or taxes increased; she's vowed to appoint another one of those drearily endless bipartisan commissions to study the problem.
She wouldn't say she would set a timetable for getting U.S. soldiers out of Iraq. She agrees the war is horrible but she'll see what the situation is next year.
[Snip]
It's hard to blame Hillary for wanting to avoid taking stands on issues that she knows will infuriate millions. She really, really, really wants to be the first woman president.

Not looking like a sure thing anymore?
Vote for change! 4 more years of Clintoon.
BTTT
YIKES!!! Timmy the Toad Russert must be quaking in his boots!! Don’t go near Ft. Marcy Park, Timmy, til you slobber all over Hillary again and make her look good and smart!! Watch out for your cat also!!
She has already bought the primaries .. the question is .. could she win the general
Hellary and her goons are trying to run from and rewrite her past
Section. 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice,
and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President,
for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected
President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.
But this Article shall not apply to anyone named Clinton.
“She has already bought the primaries .. the question is .. could she win the general?”
Depends how successful ACORN was over the last 4 years in preparing Ohio for 2008.
Russert: “What’s the odds of getting 4 flat tires at the same time?”
The Presidency was never and is NOT a “sure thing”.
IMO, she’ll get the Dimm nod, but she’ll reach that podium wounded.
You can’t beat someone with no one. That’s what the GOP has at this point.
No candidate should be allowed to even run if they don’t open up their past and all the records concerning their lives. Look to the Clinton Chronicles.
She has already bought the primaries .. the question is .. could she win the general....
NO....depends on how fast she can enact sptizers give illegals drivers licenses plan goes into effect in all key states...
remember...motor voter laws and cna’t ask for voter ID..due to disenfranchisement!!!!!
...and I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really don't want her to be.
The fewkin’ suint...if she wins it means another 4 or 8 yeara of cursing at the TV and then slamming it off!
This has been fun to watch = when rats smell blood, they turn on one another. We are now witnessing this. Who would've thought to see the MSM - even a week after 'the event' still 'piling on' her...
This seems to have legs and may connect with the interview with Ron Paul = re his court case against her - this week, (I forget what venue, but major outlet)
If the MSM and liberal/Socialist powers that be sense she can't win, they will eat her for lunch.
Problem will be, what will they then pull to still assure a dim/Socialist victory?
What a bunch of humus.
She makes one stupid, idiotic, senseless remark and they are ready to jump ship. TYPICAL RATS.
I had figured out years ago that she was nothing but an empty pants suit and I wouldn’t vote for her on a bet.
Obama is in the same category.
I guess that makes me (in the eyes of most) just a sexist and racist that can’t stand strong women or minorities.
This is where ‘they’ are wearing us down.
Call most names anymore and they go cringe in the corner.
During one of Jackson’s runs few years back, a buddy of mine was taking some classes (Ret USMC) and a Black Professor said if a white didn’t vote for Jesse, he was more than likely racist.
My bud asked him what you called it when a Black voted for Jesse just BECAUSE he was Black.
In the end, Hillary can lose Iowa AND New Hampshire, and its not a big deal (Unless she finnishes 4th)
The Democrat Machine has spent years and millions preparing for THE GREAT PAYDAY, and it will not be denied.
The Union-controlled Democrat Machine States of Nevada and Michigan will be handed to her EASILY, and her willing sycophants in the media will glowingly tell us, all a twitter, that its over, Hillary is the nominee...
The wrench is that she is spending tons of money NOW, and frying her base in the process, something they had desperately tried to avoid by moving the primaries up in the 1st place....
I cannot see any way that Hillary DOES NOT win the nomination. Too many wonks are salivating at the MILLIONS they will skim from her campaign, even if she goes down to a humiliating defeat...
Sorry, wrong answer.
Fred Thompson will beat her like a dog.
