Easy for us to debate. We werent KIA. Some of us have lost friends and family over there. We know it's not simple. And we understand what the cost has been - and we have an idea of what is at stake.
Nothing easy about it at all.

60 days sounds like a major transition.
Are you sure they aren’t transitioning him back home for good?

Hi ED,,,We can’t make any sense of this at all,,,
These guys have plenty of leave time built up,,,
This is the whole unit being held “on Base” after a 19 mo.
Tour in a Combat Zone,,,
No other unit has been treated like this as I can see...

During a five-day stretch between October 19 and 23, there were no deaths among coalition forces. Although three US servicemen died from "non-hostile causes", this was the longest period without combat deaths for almost four years. And, between October 27 and 29, there were more days without coalition deaths.Didn't hear that on the news here either.

Well, I returned home from Iraq after 15 months in September and we won’t be taking leave until late November. However, the days are only half-days and all our weekends are 3- and 4-day weekends. Once leave ends in early January we’ll be back on a normal schedule. When my unit returned from their first deployment in late 2004, they had a similar schedule. I’m afraid that’s about all I can speak of knowledgeably. Out of curiosity, how in the world did he get stuck in a 19-mo deployment? The longest I've heard of in the active Army is 18 months.

I'm waiting for the daily body count to be compared to Philly, or L.A. It might be enlightening.
When the war first started, they compared the size of Iraq to California. How many people were murdered in California each year since the war started? I know the census showed over 2000 in California in 2000. Iraq deaths were less than 2000( American) for 2-3 years.

There were a TOTAL of 7 killed in Iraq yesterday. That’s 7 Iraqis. It’s fewer than California.
