Blair: Israel needs psychological shift

David Horovitz , THE JERUSALEM POST Nov. 5, 2007

Middle East envoy Tony Blair on Sunday urged Israel to make a "psychological shift" from indifference and skepticism about the prospects of progress with the Palestinians to an active determination to "make it happen on the right terms."

He said Israel, which turns 60 in May, would "absolutely" still be here in another 60 years, but that "to guarantee its long-term security I believe it needs a viable Palestinian state."

If Israelis feel the same, Blair told The Jerusalem Post, then "the psychological shift that has to happen in the Israeli thinking is to move from saying, 'Well, if it happens, it happens, but frankly I'm skeptical about the whole thing,' to saying, 'Okay, I'm going to try and make it happen.'"

The Quartet’s Middle East envoy Tony Blair’s view on the Koran from his commentary: A Battle for Global Values, from the CFR’s Foreign Affairs publication, January/February 2007

To me, the most remarkable thing about the Koran is how progressive it is. I write with great humility as a member of another faith. As an outsider, the Koran strikes me as a reforming book, trying to return Judaism and Christianity to their origins, much as reformers attempted to do with the Christian church centuries later. The Koran is inclusive. It extols science and knowledge and abhors superstition. It is practical and far ahead of its time in attitudes toward marriage, women, and governance.

Under its guidance, the spread of Islam and its dominance over previously Christian or pagan lands were breathtaking. Over centuries, Islam founded an empire and led the world in discovery, art, and culture. The standard-bearers of tolerance in the early Middle Ages were far more likely to be found in Muslim lands than in Christian ones.

More psychobabble from Blair. I guess he has forgotten who blew up the London tube and killed 50 people - and will do it again, given the chance. Unfortunately, things change and Islam is no longer a religion of tolerance.

Tony Blair has the equation exactly reversed. It is the Palestinians who must make the "psychological shift" by ending their obdurate hostility to Israel's existence and their continued insistence on the "right of return" - which Israelis correctly read as a euphemism for Israel's destruction. The issue has never been whether Israel is ready for peace with its neighbors. The real issue has always been about whether the Palestinians are willing to accept a Jewish State in their midst and terminate the conflict. Without such a change in thinking on the Palestinian side, no true peace agreement can be reached that will last.

Tony...listen carefully to the following quote (from,I believe,Golda Mier) “there will be peace in the Middle East when the Arabs start loving their children more than they hate us”.

The Arabs will never stop attacking Israel regardless of any agreements or compromises.

Blair neglected to mention that the violence in Israel is funded by Saudi and Iranian interests which could not care less about the so called ‘Palestinians’ or a Palestinian state.

Until the EU, UN, and America realize that Arab violence in Israel is supported and promoted globally for specific political goals they will not truly grasp the issue.

There are many nations in the M.E. and the world who have a vested interest in maintaining conflict in Israel. That is, they do not want a solution of any kind. They do not want to destroy Israel and they do not want a Palestinian state. Nations in the M.E. could not care less about what happens to the Jordanian and Egyptian Arabs in Israel. The status quo serves their purpose.

No talk = no solution. No solution = no peace. No peace = no end.

Northern Ireland strife end was brought about by leadership on both sides, although disliking each other, decided not to pass the ‘troubles’ to the next generation. Blair played a part in this.

Blair is an empty shell. There is nothing of substance inside him.

Mr. Blair, neither Israel nor the US majority asked for any more anti-freedom noise from your lime hole.
