Thompson responds to Philip Martin allegations (with video)

Washington, D.C. — Fred Thompson woke up Sunday morning to a front page story in the Washington Post revealing that his long-time friend and campaign co-chairman, Philip Martin, has a criminal record that includes cocaine trafficking.

Thompson responded the story following his appearance on “Meet the Press” this morning, saying Martin never told him about his criminal past and wish he had known about it earlier.

“He thought it was over and done with and forgotten about I am sure,” Thompson said. “But of course nothing is ever over and done with and forgotten about in this business.”

Of course they didn't report on the best part of the video: Fred saying "Philip Martin hasn't raised any improper funds."

This is an important distinction between Martin and Hsu and Fred must keep (and with more force) making that distinction to the press!

Wrong! But, I would certainly have a back ground check on those people that are closely attached to my campaign.

“Trust but verify” is another good old saying!
