You have to feel for the residents. These students are there for about four years .. nine months every year .. and they're really upset because the Statesboro City Council has put the brakes on some of the wilder drinking happy hours at area bars.
Soooooo .... A couple of bar owners run for the city council, and the students launch a voter registration drive to get them elected.
Students voting? Fine. And it is so good to see the students at Georgia Southern have finally found something that will drive them to the polls ... preserving their ability to drink!
Party, Party, Party...
At least they found a way to break the voter apathy on campus.
Good for them!
Are there no Baptists left in Statesboro?..............;^)
You don’t need bar owners running for office to get me to vote. Rather the thought of Democrats running this country is why I will vote conservative in 08 (if one is nominated...) and in all elections to come.
The idea of having bartenders run for office and students voting for them just because they’re bartenders is ridiculous. What are their positions on the issues? The students should think about that and elect someone based on their ideas, not the fact that they’re a bar owner. It’s a cheap bribe to get students to vote that doesn’t really do them any good.
Guess when he woke up this mornin, had them Statesboro blues
What are their positions on the issues? The students should think about that and elect someone based on their ideas, not the fact that theyre a bar owner.
Corrected -- What are their positions on the issues? The students/people should ... and elect someone based on their ideas, not the fact that theyre a bar owner/a woman/a black/an hispanic, etc.
At lerast the students can pretty well guess what those two honestly think on at least one issue -- and tht is more than you can say about what most politicians REALLY think.
