When Coloradans elected Bill Ritter as governor, they thought they were getting a modern-day version of Roy Romer, a pro-business Democrat. Instead, they got Jimmy Hoffa.
Ritter campaigned under the guise of a moderate "new Democrat" but now we know he's simply a toady to labor bosses and the old vestiges of his party a bag man for unions and special interests.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Democrats, like tigers, can’t change their stripes...

“was nothing more than a sham”
What else could be expected of a Democrat?
Oh, and Romer was never thought of as pro-business. Pro-business for his friends, maybe, but not for the State.
I noticed this Denver Postheap writer goes out of his way to not mention Bill Ownes, the Republican for the previous 8 yers, as the leader of the State in maintaining the best economy this State has seen in decades and an economy that was booming while the rest of the country staggered. He only mentions Owens in providing more spending through Ref ‘C’.

lol....I flew out to Denver, Friday for my father's memorial and the Post was thrown at my hotel door with this editorial on the front page. I'd never seen an actual, labeled "editorial" on the front page of a newspaper before. It was strange.
I wasn't in any mood to read it, though.

He only mentions Owens in providing more spending through Ref C.That was, unfortunately, Owen's legacy--that and the destruction of the Colorado Republican party, although Norma Anderson and her ilk gave him a big assist.

A moderate “new Democrat”?!! When in h-ll are people going to understand. The good citizens of Colorado deserve what they get.

This is just like Hitlery saying she is no longer a liberal democrat, but a new progressive democrat. Nothing has changed, only the marketing.

If you take a look at one of those vote-by-county maps, you'll see that Colorado only
looks like a red state. All the densely populated metro and business areas - basically everything along the highways - are solid blue, and have been for decades. What Ritter's doing should come as no surprise to anyone. Colorado was the home of twelve-term Congresswoman and
1988 presidential candidate Pat Schroeder, after all.

Democrats are not only addicted to taxes they never met a union they didn’t like, especially if they turn out Democratic voters both alive and dead and make big campaign contributions.

Wow. I moved from MI 3 years ago to escape this. And I alighted in a state moving that direction. Sheesh.

My wife and I were on track to move from Socialist Maine to Colorado Springs till the state gutted TABOR, we rethought and moved to Idaho, where freedom still governs and the pandering left is still considered quaintly nutty.

I have great friends in Idaho (west central) and they have loved it for many years. But it is being Californicated, also.

It looks like Bill Ritter really over-reached. It could have an impact on the 2008 elections.

Colorado has been a red state but could go blue as it’s governor and legislature are Democrats. Maybe Ritter is a gift to the GOP like Spitzer seems to be in NY?

I moved to Idaho in 2000. It's the best decision I've made in a long time. Subsequent visits to my old neighborhood in Mira Mesa (north San Diego) reinforces the wisdom. The gangs, graffiti and traffic are things that irk me on every visit. I still have family in the area. I wouldn't return otherwise.

NEVER trust a democrat, no matter what they say, they are STILL democrats. There are a few good honest people in that party still (but I'm sure it will not be long before they're driven out).

This is why the Denver Post’s panties are all in a wad. They know this is still a red state, but the Dems have a window of opportunity with a rare Dem Gov and legislature to get their program enacted. Ritter’s ineptitude may well lead to that window being slammed shut.
