Waterbury (WTNH) _ A noose hanging as a Halloween display is sending a frightening message to members of the community.
"Recently there has been a lot of hype around it so you can imagine how it could make anyone feel, African-American in particular," said the president of the Greater Waterbury NAACP, Jimmie Griffin.
Griffin received numerous phone calls about the hanging man so he drove to Homestead Avenue to check it out for himself and to ask the homeowner to take it down.
"It brings back some bad memories about our history in this country," said Griffin.
News Channel 8 approached the unidentified homeowner as he was on his way out.
"You known that this reminds African-Americans of lynchings that were done in the South," said Griffin to the homeowner.
"Yeah, but that was not the intention," the homeowner responded.
The homeowner went on to say that the hanging man is a Halloween decoration and neighbors says the home always gets into the Halloween spirit.
"Yeah, they always decorate their house, they are very likable people," said neighbor Salvatore Boiano.
Griffin says that may be the case, but the symbolism of the noose is extremely sensitive and others should be aware of that.
"It seems to me that lately it's hard for people to not know that nooses are an embarrassment to hang anymore," Griffin said.
The homeowner did say he will remove the noose this evening.
Umm, no, I can't.
"It brings back some bad memories about our history in this country," said Griffin.
And, I suppose car tires remind people of......
No noose is good noose?..............
How many Black people were hanged at Salem in 1692?
Ah, yes, the Great Noose Craze of 2007. Brought to you by PC MSM everywhere.
LOL!
The people in Salem were hanged for Black Magic, not black skin.............
“You known that this reminds African-Americans of lynchings that were done in the South,” said Griffin to the homeowner.
I would’ve responded. “Um, ok....how’s that my problem?”
This is soooooooooo stupid. I’ve been hanging dummies from flagpoles at holloween since I was 12 years old. No one ever complained here in CT before.
A noose bit my sister once.........
Speaking of nooses, I enjoyed watching Clint Eastwood and Inger Stevens in “Hang ‘em High” last night.
What if the person being suspended is a white coal mine worker?
I think I deja vu’ed this.
Mod, if you feel this should be deleted, please do so.
I see the OSM (old stream media) talking points emails have went out and they involve nooses.
As a history, in 2000 if anyone recalls it was James Byrd and Churches being burned in the South and Midwest..as a way to gin up the African American vote for Dhimmis, well, the Dhimmis are no longer infavor of churches, so they have to find something to keep the story line alive...and here we have nonsensical Halloween noose refernces in place of Burnt Churches...
The template, unlike the subject, never changes....
Lets see, how many whites met the same fate out west?
Come on, Jimmie...get on the ball! This was for a Halloween display, and you’re only just now getting around to complaining about it? Usually you can sniff out those racist white devils almost instantaneously.

Get over it mr perpetually offended Jimmie Griffin and NAACP. And if I was the homeowner I'd have two words for you and here's a hint -- they ain't 'Happy Kwanzaa'.
Grow a spine people - get a sense of humor.
Actually the church problem was earlier in the ‘90s.
“Griffin says ... symbolism of the noose is extremely sensitive and others should be aware of that.”
You know, I was NEVER aware of this “sensitivity” until this year.
They (Dhimmis) used it all the time to try and push for so called Federal Hate Crimes Legislation, the NAACP used Byrd’s death against GWB because he vetoed TX hate crimes laws..
