Fred is trying to run a campaign where you don’t have to campaign two years before an election or outspend the other candidates by tens of millions to get your message out

he is trying to be who he is instead of the phony politicians kissing butt on every voter

it takes a lot of time and money to get to all those butts and if that’s what it takes to get your vote then Thompson isn’t your man

I think his style is a breath of fresh air and he’s hoping the voters think so too

I’m voting for him in the primary because I agree with his views and I don’t have to wonder whether he will take this country more left

that said I will vote for the party’s nominee whomever it may be

Can someone buy you FredHeads a clue. Have you read your American history? Presidential candidates have had to kiss babies and other body parts since the days of Teddy Roosevelt. And every 4 years it gets more and more so. And since the days of real primaries since the 1960s that's what the nominations are. Long, hard, grueling marathons to meet at many voters as possible and gather up support. Now the primaries are earlier than ever before (blame Hillary and her grand plan to win before the opposition could gather).

Ex-lobbyist and ex-Senator Thompson grasps that (at least I hope he does). He made his own decision to do it his way. IMHO it probably was fatal to his chances to be as late and slow as he has been. At least intrade reflects that, showing his odds of victory shrinking daily and now at a level no better than John McCain, who's campaign has been declared dead.

if you want to believe in the hope that Thompson can swim against the tide of populist campaigning yet get 'popular' that way, be my guest. We will know by Feb 6th or so if it was brilliant or wishful thinking.
