Boot camp and “A” school at NTC - then USS PIEDMONT (AD-17) at the Naval Station. Great memories.
Well I can’t go that far. I hate to pump gas and ran out the other day. I had to call my husband. I’m not eager to go thru that again anytime soon:’)

The Tarawa strike group left San Diego the other day with over 5,500 Marines and sailors for the Middle East.
I stood on the pier and watched a ship take off in Oct. ‘01. Brought tears to my eyes, waving at our troops, and praying for their safety. Very touching moment.
Shortly after my enlistment, PIEDMONT went to the East Coast followed by decommisioning and then sold to the Turks.
To give you a time frame, the Coronado bridge was just a dream when I was there. We rode the ferry or drove around Silver Strand to get to North Island.

Have seen many coming and going over the recent years.
Many long convoys with thousands of Marines heading for the war and Navy support ships.
The San Diego - Coronado Bay bridge is great by enjoy taking the passenger ferry across the bay
Unless I learn something new that I largely disagree with or if someone comes along that more closely aligns with my views, then I'm voting Duncan.

That is a beautiful sight. The only thing that could improve it are landmines.

A beautiful sight (the Cornonado Bridge) but I'd rather go across on the ferry with you than drive that HIGH UP in the car ever again! :)

Run out of gas? Used to have that problem frequently. Old boss told me that women need to realize that cars aren’t quite like raising a baby - you can’t wean them!! But that was in the days when we’d wait for a gas war and fill everybody up for $.19 a gallon instead of reg cost of $.25/gallon. Long time ago.
